About
Olya Anima is an Artist, Illustrator & Visual Storyteller.
Olya was born in Riga, Latvia. Her fascination with art started in early childhood when she developed a special interest in Soviet animation and multinational cinematography.
In her early twenties, Olya moved to Ireland where she studied animation and later wrote and directed two short animation films: “The Last Leaf” and “Tricky Violin”.
Since then, Visual Storytelling has become her essential interest. This passion led Olya to study Children's Book Illustration at the Cambridge School of Arts.
Doing her Master's, Olya focused on the core of the illustration, its message, hidden tricks, and secrets that have the power to “illuminate” flat images with life and enable the establishment of a strong emotional connection with the viewer.
During the pandemic, in search of peace of mind and harmony, Olya discovered various types of meditation and disciplines of self-knowledge, which led her to a new artistic concept. The aforementioned factors have motivated her to explore the transcendent nature of human existence and set the direction for her current creative practice.
